Kisses and Kicks: Kicks to the maskless, kisses to those concerned about the garbage man

Here are the good deeds (and not so good deeds) that happened in our Coast community this week!
Kisses & Kicks
Kisses & Kicks

Here are your kicks and kisses for the week of May 26!

  • A classroom full of kisses to Jen MacInnes of Cedar Grove Elementary for the invaluable mindfulness teachings she shares with her kids. The seeds she is planting in those little hearts will take root for years and years to come.
  • Kisses to Viola at Splash n Shine car wash Sechelt. Not only are you a hard worker at keeping the place tidy and clean but you are quick to offer assistance when needed and always with a smile, patience, and kindness. Thank you!
  • Kisses to the person concerned about the garbage man mixing garbage and organics in Halfmoon Bay. As the garbage man who services Halfmoon Bay and the rest of the SCRD, we use split load trucks that have a divider to keep the garbage and organics separate. This helps us reduce emissions by being able to only use one truck instead of two. We are always happy to answer any questions while we are servicing your area!
  • Hugs and a heartfelt thank you to our realtor Kirsty Tosczak. Thanks for your support and hard work through many long months! We appreciate everything you did. J & M
  • Kicks to the maskless, creating a superspreading event (SSEV: event at which an infectious disease e.g., COVID, is spread much more than usual); glorious music is all that should have lingered.
  • Kisses to the lady who helped me outside the thrift store on Cowrie when I dropped my phone. Much appreciated.
  • Kisses to Tara and others who helped me last year thru a very traumatic situation. Your help was much appreciated.
  • Thank you to the couple who drove me home and waited while I got my extra keys then drove me back to my car. So glad to live in this compassionate community. Senior female.
  • Kicks to the people who maintain the Raven’s Nest. If you’re going to use screws and nails make sure to take them all away so kids don’t step on them, thanks.
  • Kisses of gratitude to Kevin and Guy who helped my Mom back into the car in the IGA parking lot on May 4. We are recovering.
  • Kicks to the people feeding the birds peanuts in the shell. We need them to eat insects in the summer, plus they gunk up my birdbath.

Email your Kisses and Kicks to [email protected]. The deadline for submissions is 1 p.m. every Tuesday for a given week.

Coast Reporter will run kisses and kicks entries as space permits on a first-received, first-published basis.

Submissions must be accompanied by a name and phone number for confirmation by the editor. Names will not be printed in the column unless requested by the writer, for kisses only.

A kick is intended to be an anonymous critique between private parties and may in no way publicly identify an individual, group or business directly or indirectly.

Submissions must be no longer than 30 words. If your thanks or critique is longer, consider an ad in our classified section. The editor reserves the right to edit or refuse to run any submission.
