Here are your kisses and kicks for the week of July 4!
- Kisses to the kind man and the kind woman who helped me get to my feet when I had a bad fall in front of the Gibsons Library on Wednesday, June 4. I am recovering!
- A million kisses to the kind gentleman who saved a duckling under the Wilson Creek bridge. It was caught on a blackberry bush and the gentleman went home and got a net and was able to reach and untangle it and set it free back to its mom and four siblings.
- A monumental kick to the person who found and used up the balance on the Starbucks card I used for more than 10 years. Of irreplaceable and sentimental value and routinely used to pay for the car behind me. Shame on you!
- On a Sunday sailing to Gibsons, we two retired folks discovered that a local bus disruption would strand us at Langdale for over two hours. Two very kind folks from Sechelt, Gary and Heather, must have heard my moans, and promptly offered us a ride into Lower Gibsons, during which we had a delightful four-way natter about our lives and careers.
- Kisses to the Gibsons Fire Department for sending a kind soul to rescue three ducklings that had fallen through a manhole cover along Gower Point Road. All ducklings were retrieved and reunited with their mother and five siblings to the pond below the Public Library.
- Thanks to the crew at OK Tire who helped me out with a flat tire on a busy Monday to get me to work. Amazing customer service. Thanks!
- Kicks to the property owner who thought it was a good idea to burn shed debris during a fire ban! Big thanks to the quick response by the fire department to our call!
- A “spec”tacular glass of kisses to the local folks who donated their unwanted prescription eye glasses to the SC Lions. These are then forwarded to underdeveloped countries for distribution to those in need. Since 1997 6,802,849 pairs of glasses have been collected and distributed. Drop-off sites at opticians. Well done folks –– keep them coming.
- Kicks to the woman in the audience at the Chatelech graduation ceremony June 25 who raised her arms with thumbs down whenever our Indigenous lands and peoples were mentioned. She also remained seated when the entire assembly stood for the presentation of Indigenous music. Shame on you for disrespecting the graduating class and I am sure the three Indigenous ladies sitting quietly next to you were disturbed by your racist behaviour!
