UPDATED: BC Ferries cancels Powell River/Comox route round trip

Insufficient number of available crew members results in October 28 morning cancellations

Due to BC Ferries being unsuccessful in securing the required number of crew members to sail, the following Salish Heron trips have been cancelled for today, Saturday, October 28.

6:15 am departing Little River (Comox)
8:05 am departing Westview (Powell River)

The following sailings on this route, which were previously at risk of cancellation, will now sail as scheduled as BC Ferries has sourced a sufficient number of crew members:

9:55 am departing Little River (Comox)
11:50 am departing Westview (Powell River)

"We require a specific number of crew members on board the vessel to ensure the safety of our passengers in the unlikely event of an emergency and to comply with Transport Canada regulations," stated BC Ferries. "The decision to cancel a sailing in these circumstances is made when we have exhausted all options to find replacement crew."

BC Ferries' Customer Service Centre will contact customers with bookings on the cancelled sailings to let them know if space is available to fit them on an alternate sailing later in the day, or if their booking must be cancelled. In the case of a cancellation, BC Ferries will refund fees and/or fares.
