Dear Fellow Sunshine Coast Residents: With summer just around the corner, minimal COVID-19 activity across the province, and everyone adjusting to the new normal, this will be our last Community Update for a while.

It’s been a little boring playing in the backyard, according to one child playing catch at the Friendship Park playground in Sechelt.

The Victoria Day long weekend was busier on the ferries than the Easter long weekend, but there seemed to be less anxiety about visitors to the Sunshine Coast.

Dear Fellow Sunshine Coast Residents: We hope you all enjoyed the glorious long weekend weather! Days like these make it hard to imagine that we are in the middle of a global pandemic, even as our lives have been impacted in so many ways.

On the strength of falling coronavirus case numbers in recent weeks, the province has announced a phased reopening of social and economic activity. The success of the Restart Plan will depend, however, on the number of new cases continuing to be low.

Dear Fellow Sunshine Coast Residents: As we continue to see over a thousand new cases of COVID-19 across Canada daily, it is clear that we are not out of the woods yet. Here in B.C. we continue to average close to 30 new cases daily.

This action gives the Nation emergency powers to further respond to the pandemic
