Pender Harbour & Egmont: We Are One celebrates life

Seniors Initiative offers activities throughout the week during June; low impact aerobics (walking) Mondays 9:30 a.m. at PH Hall, chair yoga classes, Mondays 11 a.m. at Sarah Wray Hall, carpet bowling Wednesdays 1 to 3 p.m. at both Egmont and PH Community Halls, chair yoga classes, Fridays 10:30 a.m. at the PH Hall. 

Harbourside Friendship June 6 will be a creative gathering. Come and enjoy working with air dry clay starting at 10:30 a.m. at the PH Hall. Lunch served at noon. Drop in $10. Special event Wednesday June 19, 10 a.m. enjoy wood-fired pizza at Kathy and Wayne Bergman’s home. Reserve a seat with Marlene 604-883-9900. Cost $10 per person. 

Egmont Day is next Saturday, June 8 starting with the kids’ fishing derby at the government dock at 9 a.m., then the parade at 11 a.m. Fun for everyone continues through the day with Zodiac rides, games, pony rides, refreshments. 

The Sunshine BCSPCA is overloaded with animals in their care, involving huge costs and workloads. You can help in simple ways by handing in your IGA receipts at the store, donating your refundables at GRIPS (mention before you hand them in) and dropping a contribution in the boxes at Madeira Park Vet and GRIPS. The biggest music event in the harbour, the Pender Harbour Blues Festival is a week away. Three days of fantastic music runs Friday, June 7 through Saturday and Sunday featuring performances by the best in the world in spectacular venues. See www.phblues.ca for all the info and ticket purchase. The Slocat will be available for a wonderful way of getting around. 

This year’s Women’s Connection wind-up lunch is Tuesday, June 11 at the West Coast Wilderness Lodge . Doors open at 11:30 a.m. Tickets are $35 for members and $40 for non-members available through Jean Pate at 604-883-0660 or [email protected]
