Pender Harbour & Egmont: One more fair this weekend

The Almost Christmas Faire on Saturday, Dec. 14 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Hall is the perfect event for gifts, decorations, baking and treats. Enjoy a warm drink with a home-baked treat and craft something special with the lovely Liz.

The Faire is hosted by Pender Harbour Community Club that cares for the Hall and Gardens. They invite everyone to start the new decade off right and become a member. We all use and enjoy the Hall, so let’s show our appreciation and support to keep it going. It is not funded by the SCRD. 

The Harbour Gallery will be open Saturdays Dec. 14 and 21, extending their Christmas sale. Great discounts on paintings of all sizes, cards, stained glass and felted creations. 

The Legion will host their giant ham, turkey and holiday baking draw and auction Saturday, Dec. 14 starting at 3 p.m. Tickets ($50 per person) are on sale now for the Legion’s New Year’s Eve Party that includes appies, a prime rib dinner, and fabulous music from Apasionado. Doors open at 5 p.m. Pick up yours at the Legion and Harbour Insurance. 

The Harbour will be full of wonderful music all weekend. The Friday Jam, Dec. 13 with Eddy Edrik, starts at 7 p.m. at the Legion. Come enjoy, play, and sing along. 

The Sunday Jam, Dec. 15, 2 to 6 p.m. at The Clubhouse, has the fabulous Jim Foster in the house. Enjoy delicious food, drinks and warm hospitality as you take in the best music on the Coast. Admission by donation. 

Also Sunday, the next concert in the PH Music Society series has a Christmas theme. Sweet Scarlet returns to the School of Music stage at 2 p.m. The sassy six-member a cappella group guarantee to put a little va-va-voom in your Christmas. 

Tuesday, Dec. 17 Madeira Park Elementary School will present their annual Christmas Concert at the PH Community Hall. Two shows are at 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. All welcome. 

The 29th annual Pender Harbour Bird Count is Dec. 18. See page 24 for details. 

In Lieu of Christmas Cards deadline for submissions is Dec. 16. Donate to the Pender Harbour branch of the Sunshine Coast Healthcare Auxiliary and send holiday greeting to friends and family that will be published in Coast Reporter. All donations go towards purchasing much needed equipment for Sechelt Hospital. Call Mary 604-989-7650 for details. 

Harbourside Friend-ships Christmas Luncheon and harp performance is Thursday Dec. 19 at the Hall 10:30 a.m. Lunch will be served at noon.  

Friday, Dec. 20 there will be an after-school Christmas movie at the PH Hall for children five to 12. 

Also on Dec. 20, the 55th Pender Harbour Christmas Boat Parade will set sail at 6:30 p.m. from the government docks at Millennium Park to tour the Harbour, a floating festival of lights, carollers and pipers. 

Egmont Christmas Potluck Dinner begins at 6 p.m. Dec. 20 at the Egmont Community Hall. Folks from out of town with children under 12, please bring a wrapped gift for Santa to hand out to your child.
