Pender Harbour & Egmont: Garden Club meets April 8

The Pender Harbour Garden Club is pleased to present Sandy Matches of Kleindale on Monday, April 8, at the School of Music, 1 to 3 p.m. Some might know him as Handy Sandy.

The Pender Harbour Garden Club is pleased to present Sandy Matches of Kleindale on Monday, April 8, at the School of Music, 1 to 3 p.m. Some might know him as Handy Sandy. His botanical experience is mostly self taught and learned from his grandmother. He worked as a landscape architect for three years 1994-1997 and has collected specimen plants since he was a child. Sandy will be going over techniques for container gardening including bonsai and terrarium bowls and giving away plants in the raffle prizes. Admission is $15 for 2019 membership or $5 drop in. Both include complimentary coffee, tea and goodies. 

At Women’s Connection Tuesday, April 9, Edmund Arceo, designer and publisher of ZOOM magazine, will talk about his new publication called Flavours, The Sunshine Coast Food and Drink Magazine. He will share the motivation behind his new project and the challenges he faces in its development. 

Harbourside Friendship, Thursday, April 11 is April Playoffs. Doors open at 10:30 a.m. at the Hall, and lunch will be served at noon. Drop in $10 

Pender Harbour Living Heritage Society AGM is Friday, April 12 at 1 p.m. at the Sarah Wray Hall. Hear a review of last year’s events and what’s to come in 2019. Renew your membership and perhaps volunteer for the board. 

The Coffee House at the School of Music Friday, April 12 welcomes fantastic local talents Reflections, Women’s Vocal Ensemble; Matt Richards, singer, songwriter, guitarist; J-Tones, Jazz Vocal Trio; and Matthew Douglas, pianist. The Garden Bay Spring Fair at Sarah Wray Hall is Saturday, April 13, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., with Aurelia Cardiff, Steeped Tea (beautiful loose teas); Carolyn Farrand, Beads and Bangles; Lea Beaton, Bayside Bijoux; Rachel Blunt, Painted Rocks; Shelley Steele, Young Living Essential Oils (oils, supplements, makeup and more); and Traci May Lint, Thirty One Gifts (purses, totes, thermals, home décor for your house, cabin, boat and vehicle).
