Sunshine Coast Weather: A reprieve from the heat

Environment Canada, is citing a risk of thunderstorms in some areas of the lower Sunshine Coast this afternoon.

A reprieve from the heat and some welcome precipitation are said to be in store, according to Weatherhood.  With those 30-something or near 30 degree C temperatures experienced on the Sunshine Coast over the past three days behind us, the call is for a high of 22 degrees today and for clouds to be on the increase.

By Thursday, there is a 68 per cent chance of rain in the forecast with accumulations in the 2 millimetre range. Major rainfall with accumulations of up to 40 millimetres is said to be on our way by Friday, and with wet conditions continuing through the weekend.

Environment Canada, is citing a risk of thunderstorms in some areas of the lower Sunshine Coast this afternoon. It is forecasting wind northwest at 20 km/h, gusting to 40 over exposed coastal sections early this morning, tapering off as by mid-morning.

That authority is calling for a Humidex reading of 28 and a UV index 7 (or high) for Wednesday, Aug. 13. .
