Some sailings are going ahead, for now

BC Ferries is planning to add seven new boats to its fleet –– six of those to replace retiring vessels –– which BCF CEO Nicholas Jimenez says will alleviate stress for the Sunshine Coast, but he wouldn’t at this point commit to a second boat for Route 3 (Langdale-Horseshoe Bay).  

Those headed to the big city from the Sunshine Coast have one more option Thursday evening. BC Ferries has added a 6:40 p.m. sailing from Langdale to Horseshoe Bay, Sept. 5 to "assist with high traffic volumes.

As the Sunshine Coast bids adieu to summer tourists, so it does to the second boat on the Horseshoe Bay-Langdale route. With the Queen of Coquitlam' s departure from Route 3, the Coast's new fall schedule is in effect.

A point of pride noted in the CEO’s presentation at the Aug. 15 AGM was BCF was 'back on the path to being an employer of choice.'
