Tuesday, May 12 was a red-letter day for me. I was part of something with far reaching implications for the future. And I'm not talking about voting in the provincial election.

Editor: In her column (Coast Reporter, May 1) Shannon Bond stated, "the effort to get down to the beach is too much to overcome with dignity intact." Forget dignity, it is impossible at any time.

Editor: Thank you to Shannon Bond for the report on SD46's preliminary budget (Coast Reporter, May 1), but, one important item was missing.

Editor: It has come to my attention that we no longer live in the 13th century, that we actually have the technology today to represent ourselves.

Voters in Powell River-Sunshine Coast can take small comfort in the fact they were the best of the worst on Tuesday night. Voter turnout on Vancouver Island/Sunshine Coast was 55 per cent, tops in the province.

Editor: On a 'peaceful' sunny day recently, my husband and I went to have a coffee outside on a pleasant cafe deck in Davis Bay to enjoy that part of the wonderful seascape that weenjoyon the Sunshine Coast.

Editor: I enjoy reading your editorials, even though you sometimes get it so wrong, as is the case with your opposition to the improvements to Gibsons Way.

Editor: Being acutely aware that the parties I have voted for in past years are seriously under-represented in the Legislature and the House of Commons under a First-Past-the-Post system, I was disappointed when the referendum for Single Transferable

Editor: Re: Islanders consider float option (Coast Reporter, May 1) It is noted in this article that these folks "have trouble getting a firm idea from B.C. Ferries on what the biggest concern about the float is." I'll bet that B.C.

Editor: I like the new lane system on Gibsons Way. When there's no ferry traffic, I think it works great. Unfortunately, there is ferry traffic, going both ways.
