Yes, we are afraid

Letters

Editor:

When I was 10 years old in 2012, I was told the world was going to end on Dec. 12. How does the world just end? Would Dec. 13 even exist? These, and millions of other questions swirled in my mind.

Here I am six years later, with answers to the questions I asked myself years ago. The world doesn’t just randomly end, it takes years and years of cruel destruction and money hunger to do what humans have done. You may not be as worried about the future as my generation is, because you might not be here to see the end result. I will be here – my friends, little sister, cousins, and teammates, will all be here in a fight for survival if the government keeps putting money before OUR FUTURE.

Yes we are afraid, we are afraid of our animals becoming extinct, our water becoming scarce and polluted, having toxic oceans and smog-filled skies. I have not been “indoctrinated” by teachers, parents, or any people of that sort. I have done my own research, I’ve read facts and seen the data. People like you are stealing years of our future away by not taking climate change as serious as it is.

Nothing is going to change until people like you think about what kind of a world you’re leaving for your kids and grandkids.

You can only keep your head in the sand for so long.
