Wildfire focus lacking

I’ve just read the latest (March 2021) Sunshine Coast Community Forest (SCCF) Operational Plan Guidelines and I’m concerned about how little attention is paid to wildfire management.
The Coast Reporter last month highlighted the recent weather patterns of several communities across southern B.C. Victoria, Penticton and Kelowna have just experienced some of the driest March months on record.

The report addresses the management of water, biodiversity, recreation, soils and geology, non-timber forest products (e.g. mushroom foraging) and of course timber in a much more comprehensive manner.
Since the SCCF claims to be “exceptional forest stewards” (as stated in the operating plan guidelines), that implies that management is not all about timber extraction and profit making.

It would be reassuring to Sunshine Coast residents to know that the logging industry has at least had some kind of plan in mind to address the risk of wildfire as we move rapidly into the summer and the height of fire season.
