We need infrastructure

Letters

Editor:

So many recent letters to the editor stress the undeniable fact that the guys at the big table are unwilling or unable to provide us with adequate water. The Oct. 13 edition contained a cogent comment about the real fire hazard from tinder dry grass abutting our houses.

I have what may seem a picayune addition. This year my pond fish were actually killed by raccoons – they probably died quickly. But if they had remained in my pond, I am being told by those same guys at the big table that I would have to let them die an agonizing death for lack of water because I cannot use outdoor water for ponds.

As an old guy, I actually seldom use my vegetable garden anymore – but it would sure be nice to be able to harvest a few salad greens. I guess I could use grey water, but that is getting close to absurdity.

Over the winter of 2016-17, enough water fell to float the Titanic.

We need an infrastructure which retains all that water for our use.

All kinds of possibilities exist. All cost money, but many of us are willing to pay in order to have the kind of life we thought we were getting.

Just wait for the next election.
