Re: Unions warn of cuts to libraries, Special Ed (Coast Reporter, May 14).

I hope the superintendent of our school district and our elected trustees know that it is not OK to pretend that our public schools will survive more cuts.

It's no longer about re-examining service delivery methods and models, and trying to find cuts that will impact the fewest numbers of children and youth.

We need to stop telling each other we are doing the best we can in tough times. We are not.

Our provincial government is failing our children and communities and if we don't scream publicly then we too will become part of the problem. Our provincial government is doing a lousy job when it comes to allocating government spending.

We grown ups need to tell the truth and make sure our premier and the minister of education know we aren't fooled into believing our public schools can do an exemplary job without adequate funding.
