We belong here too

Letters

Editor:

I’m sorry, but I take offence to the reaction of the “residents of the Sunshine Coast” towards travellers to the Sunshine Coast. Not everyone is arriving for a vacation – many of us have homes here, some more seasonal than others, but they need to be looked after and maintained.

Last year we spent 82 days here and no one complained about the thousands of dollars we spent on food, gas, restaurant meals, moorage, etc.

My family has had property on the Sunshine Coast since the 1920s, paying taxes every year. We feel we belong here.

Coming here last week from the Fraser Valley, where everyone is being very diligent about social distancing and hand washing, I am noticing things here are more lax with a little less attention to detail.

May we all practise safety and come out of this situation soon.
