Editor:
I find it interesting to walk around my neighborhood and observe some of my neighbors ignoring sprinkling restrictions.
As long as the Sunshine Coast Regional District (SCRD) is unable or unwilling to enforce sprinkling regulations, it will continue.
Some time ago, my neighbor did all his illegal water use during the dark hours. I wrote a letter to the paper that was printed immediately. The neighbour never spoke to me again. Whether or not he stopped sprinkling illegally, I never knew. He finally moved away, taking his guilt with him, I suspect.
Illegal water users are people I would most certainly not want to be in a major disaster with, where water rationing might be necessary. They would in all likelihood spend a great deal of their time conniving how to get more than their share, not caring a whit for others.
As a taxpayer, I would certainly welcome an increase in taxes to cover the cost to the SCRD in enforcing sprinkling regulations.
