Re: Letter to the editor from Alice Janisch (Coast Reporter, March 8).
It was no surprise to see the same people who were against Target Marine and the community forest's activities surface again at Sechelt's committee of the whole meeting on March 12 to protest the planned wastewater treatment plant. Many in this group are becoming all too familiar whenever there is a protest to be had.
It was also no surprise that the same bullies exhibited their now standard behaviour - yelling, booing and cutting off anyone who disagreed with them. Yes, they are entitled to their opinions, but their disrespectfulness was obnoxious and showed what kind of people they really are.
Where was this same group when it came to protesting the last council's "innovative" decision to put in another smelly, open-pond sewer treatment plant? Why should that be allowed anywhere, when there is proven technology for something better?
If Alice Janisch and Warren Allan, the previous council's sewer committee representatives, had their way, we would have relied on their quick trip to Washington for Janisch to do, as she put it, her "smell test." Her nose provided, apparently, iron-clad proof that nothing was wrong with using old technology, even if it ended up costing more to maintain and update over the proceeding few years. She is, no doubt, proud of the fact that there was absolutely no hint of innovation to any of her sewer committee's decisions.
