There are multiple studies that show that volunteering has multiple effects including health benefits. It can be minor hockey, skating, hospital auxiliary, baseball, local service organizations like Girl Guides, Scouts, Lions, Rotary, KidSport, Botanical Society, or a municipal advisory committee. In a time when we are all busy, it is important to recognize the amount of time that is invested in helping these valuable organizations run. We are a community rich in opportunity for participation, yet at times, there are gaps in the resources of people available to help maintain and support these organizations. Consider making the step to volunteering to one of the groups that may need your knowledge, skills and abilities. Check the local newspapers or the Sunshine Coast Volunteer Centre for opportunities. You are needed.
