Tremendously grateful

Letters

Editor:

Whilst journeying the Sunshine Coast last week with my daughter, our paths crossed with many wonderfully helpful and honest people along Hwy. 101.

Departing from a delightfully sunny deck visit at the Garden Bay Pub, we absent-mindedly drove away with my MEC travel pouch perched on the roof of our car. We discovered it was missing within about five minutes. We had no idea it was left on the roof and it became quite the mini-mystery.

The staff and locals at Garden Bay were quick to rally and responded to our dilemma with great care and concern.

We began searching the area and soon we received calls that my bag had been found a short distance away in the middle of Hwy. 101. These good folks, two men just finishing a long workday, insisted that they come to us at Garden Bay to return it. How very thoughtful and gratefully received! Alas, the pouch with ID and credit cards wasn’t in it. We were stymied.

Next, a call comes in that the ID and credit card pouch inside had also been retrieved by a young man on a scooter in what sounded like the same spot, again in the middle of the 101! Amazing. His father met us at the PetroCan to deliver. All of this happened in the course of about one hour.

To all of you who graced our journey, thank you. Your kindness and generosity will live long among us in our family’s story telling circles.
