I love the new tree bylaw. It is a clear, logical, and progressive piece of legislation passed by the Town of Gibsons last fall. Kudos to all those who put it together.
I scratched my head then when a postcard comes into my mailbox saying, “rescind the new bylaw.” The anonymous group of people (or person) is concerned about a potential loss of equity in their “investment.” I prefer to think of my “investment” as my home in a community. A community that had the foresight to recognize trees as a natural asset and integral part of its ecology.
Perhaps in the midst of this massive housing crisis the folks quibbling about their “investments” could turn their attention to a greater good.
