If Mayor Barry Janyk wants to create traffic calming in Gibsons, a good place to start would be at the intersection of Reed Road and North Road. That route has seen many accidents: there was a fatality there last year, another accident this past Sunday, and many near misses.
It is nearly impossible to be able to access the roads when the ferry traffic is passing and local motorists have to check the ferry schedule whenever they want to travel.
If ever a traffic signal is needed, that intersection is it. Failing that, the province must complete the bypass proposed many years ago before there is another fatality.
