It is getting more and more concerning to read, hear and look around at what is happening on the beautiful Sunshine Coast. All the needs and wants from the humans with not one single thought of the impact on wildlife.
The logging is destroying habitat needed for wildlife to find food, shelter and a place to raise their families.
The potential upcoming collection of organic waste, meaning the leftover food scraps from humans left on the curbside for pickup, is not a good idea. In large cities it may work, but not in rural areas like the Sunshine Coast. We live amongst wildlife, and by putting organic waste at the curbside, we are attracting animals such as bears – with the end result that these “nuisance” bears will be killed.
Users of dirt bikes, all terrain vehicles, and snowmobiles are making or wanting more and more trails in the backcountry wilderness. Noise and speeds are scaring and disturbing the wildlife all year round.
Too many crab-traps and fishing gear is a major cause of entanglement while impact with boats is a danger to marine life including orcas and whales.
We need to stop and think about protecting and respecting the wildlife and their habitat before making decisions.
