In 2020 our property tax with the senior grant was $2095.10. Our 2021 property tax with the senior discount is $2529.47. That’s an increase of $434.37 or 20.8 per cent. That’s three times the seven per cent increase you say you are charging.
Furthermore, since 2017, our property taxes have increased from $1764.61 to $2529.47. That’s a whopping 43.3 per cent in four years.
I know you will reply with a whole bunch of fancy political talk and math that you really are only charging us a seven per cent increase but in the real world the amount of money I am being asked to pay the Town of Gibsons is 20.8 per cent more.
