With “lockdown” restrictions in force and folks getting impatient with the situation, the perfect antidote is a trip to the Sunshine Coast Botanical Gardens.
What could be more relaxing, enjoyable and educational than a short drive to the gardens on Mason Road in West Sechelt, then a walk around the various trails, in peace, quiet and fresh air, to view the amazing number of plants and trees? Clear labelling helps us to learn what it is we are looking at and the enjoyment of the colourful displays is both soothing and exciting.
An ideal destination to take your children for a pleasant walk and to teach them about the wonders of nature. On these sunny days, it is even possible to have an outdoor picnic there and play games in the open green spaces.
Don’t miss the ponds, see if you can spot and identify any water birds, or hear the frogs croaking. Look for butterflies and dragonflies, you may be lucky enough to see robins and other species of the birds you can hear.
For those of you who have serious mobility problems, arrangements can be made to have a tour in their golf cart.
Try it out and help keep the Gardens alive and in the public spotlight.
