Urban Systems is one of the three companies in the Maple Reinders consortium, winner of the contract to build a new sewage treatment plant for Sechelt.
Urban Systems was part of the biosolids task force/committee before it was redirected to be the project steering committee for the construction of a wastewater treatment plant.
Urban Systems wrote three reports for the District of Sechelt: a sewage treatment technologies comparison for the Sechelt sewage facilities commission in 2010, a wastewater strategy final report in 2005 and a final biosolids management plan in 2010.
Urban Systems attended the first of four meetings of the project steering committee for the construction of a wastewater treatment plant.
The statement by Maple Reinders quoted by Coast Reporter at the July 16 public update - "One important question answered during the presentation was why Ebbtide was chosen when Lot L on Dusty Road had previously been purchased for a new treatment plant. 'We analyzed both sites independently. We didn't know the history of it, we had no knowledge of that, and there's two main reasons why we selected Ebbtide,' Ambrozy said. 'One was an engineering solution. All the infrastructure, all the piping, everything leads to Ebbtide.'" - is therefore questionable.
Surely theMaple Reinders consortium knew the history much better than stated in the meeting, through Urban Systems, which was intimately involved in discussions regarding Lot L and Ebbtide.
