This letter was sent to B.C. public health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry.
I live in a small ferry-dependent community. Many of us are dismayed by the influx of tourists on holiday weekends. I have a few suggestions that I think will be useful.
1. We need more guidance from the province about what constitutes essential travel. Please clearly define.
2. We also need guidelines about behaviour when travelling. I suggest:
• Be self-contained in camper or summer home.
• Do your shopping in your home grocery/liquor store – or arrange for local delivery.
• Isolate yourself when you arrive. Do not interact with the local population.
And, thank you for your calm, competent leadership. You are, as well, an excellent teacher/presenter of complex information.
