Straight from the farm

Letters

Editor:

On getting farm fresh, I could not agree more with Arwen MacDonald (Letters, July 14). Making it easier to shop locally for high quality food is the Gibsons Farm Collective (www.gibsonsfarmcollective.com). Their website is super easy to use. There is a one-time free sign up for your account. Every Saturday you click on the items you want from the virtual shopping list and check out. The following Thursday you pay when you pick up the order at Brookbank Farm on Henry Road in Gibsons.

I had no idea I could get roasted garlic cream cheese, feta, chèvre, and yogurt from goats’ milk right here on the Coast. Along with familiar vegetables, this week there are warba new potatoes and edible calendula petals.

This collective of eight farms is following in the footsteps of the historic jam collective that once thrived in the same area.

Get on the flavour trail and bon appétit!
