We would like to send our deepest condolences to the Sechelt Nation and all the families impacted by the genocide of the residential school system.
Sunshine Coast Labour Council recognizes the horror and remembers the residential school survivors and their families, and the children who never returned home.
We have taken a recommendation from the BC Federation of Labour and passed a motion to send a donation to the Indian Residential School Survivors Society at irsss.ca.

We stand with the Indigenous community and we are approaching you to offer our support and begin a dialogue to bring Truth & Reconciliation work into our regions and beyond.

To recognize the June as National Indigenous History Month, Sunshine Coast Labour Council’s Truth & Reconciliation Committee has started to make a small batch of homemade orange T-shirt pins to distribute to our labour council members and school district leaders to raise awareness of the Truth & Reconciliation journey.

Should you need our support in specific campaigns and initiatives Sechelt Nation is taking for this month and on June 21, please inform us anytime.
We would like to be part of the action in bringing justice to all Indigenous people.

Miyuki Shinkai, President,
Sunshine Coast Labour Council
