Re: “Minor changes for SSC include 8-storey switch,” Sept. 30.
I am so disheartened to read, yet again, that SSC Properties is on hold, yet again, because of more reports required to move forward with a public hearing.
I am excited about the potential this project will bring to Sechelt. I am a paddler, and the idea of a paddling compound accessible to all paddlers is not only greatly needed but will be a tremendous community benefit for Sechelt and the Coast.
This is just one opportunity this development offers. How can you not see what this project offers for Sechelt and the Coast? This is not just a group of developers interested solely in their own pockets. The plan is loaded with everything feasible to be a vibrant, healthy community – sustainability, accessibility, opportunity, growth, and life.
The latest article in Coast Reporter is the most disturbing of all. Seriously? Council and staff have just realized that the plan included eight-storey buildings? This was the plan presented from the onset and yet staff and council seem to be bumbling about trying to determine what is fact – and while they try to figure this out, SSC Properties becomes the pawn in a very unfair political pace.
Come on, Sechelt council. Give the public a chance to have a say in their future. Step aside and send this project to public hearing. Let Sechelt live!
