I simply wanted to share what we’ve done with the free postcard given to everyone by Canada Post. I know that some felt that this was a waste of tax money. But I was charmed by the invitation to send some cheer out into the world.
We found a one-room school in Saskatchewan (we don’t know anyone there) and wrote to the elementary school kids. We invited them to find the Sunshine Coast on a map, and we mentioned that logging and fishing are important in our region. If nothing else, we hope that we encouraged a geography lesson and made a bit of fun for a rural community. I hope others do something equally friendly, in a very Canadian way.
