Re: 2014 rural property tax notice

I am complaining to you about the 2014 rural tax notice.

You have increased my taxes by 18.3 per cent. How can you impose such an increase on us seniors who live on a fixed income? Not all seniors are wealthy.

First our government took away our BC Ferries privileges and we now have to pay, and now you increased our rural taxes as well. We certainly did not get a pension increase of 18.3 per cent.

We seniors don’t have children any more, yet we are willing to pay the school taxes to help our society. But the bureaucrats in our lovely country seem to think it is OK to squeeze out some more taxes from those of us who have learned over a lifetime how to budget our expenses.

Is it not time that our government starts doing the same and leads by example? I guess if we get angry enough next time there is an election, we see a change.
