Island Timberlands is in their planning stage of logging in the Day Road forest in Roberts Creek. This is the same area that the community protested in 1997 to prevent MacMillan Bloedel from destroying this incredible recreational oasis. The result was much better than if the original plan had been implemented and the west side of Roberts Creek still has a park like atmosphere.

The end of Day Road is a gateway to Mount Elphinstone, which sees regular traffic from the many users of the mountain. It is important to get the message to Island Timberlands that this is a special forest, which has already seen enough logging, especially considering the logging done on the other side of Roberts Creek.

You can email the president of Island Timberlands and make him aware of the importance of this forest at [email protected] and include the operational planner Wayne French at [email protected]. It is important we send a strong message from the community, while they are still thinking about it, to request it be left alone.
