On Wednesday, Sept. 3, we were hiking up the Chapman Creek trail. On the opposite bank we spotted a seagull, which seemed quite unbalanced, at the edge of the creek. On our return, it was sitting, yet its feathers seemed ruffled. The seagull was now lying in the creek, its head half submerged, and a leg and wing entangled in fishing line attached to a branch. The more it struggled, the tighter the line got. It was exhausted and in pain. Crows were circling overhead.

Thanks to Irene and Agnes at Gibsons Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre for dropping everything, when they were already inundated, and delicately cutting the line from its wing, leg and neck. This beautiful young seagull should make a full recovery.
