The following letter was addressed to Sunshine Coast Regional District directors and shared with Coast Reporter.
I would like to know how the Coast Mountain Bike Trail Association (CMBTA) was able to construct new bridges over Langdale Creek without significant issues, volunteer help, and limited budget while the SCRD cannot repair the bridges in Cliff Gilker after years.
The bridges over Langdale Creek are beautiful and well made, clearly sufficient for public use. The SCRD manages Sprockids and has a memorandum of understanding with the CMBTA. Why can the same standards not apply to Cliff Gilker? Perhaps the Roberta Creek Community Association should have a similar arrangement and work with the CMBTA to get this work done at reasonable cost.
This is a failure in bureaucracy as I know the SCRD directors want this work done yesterday. What is in the way of the administration so this can get done? If it is staffing, let the CMBTA take on this work –– obviously they are able to get it done.
