Editor:
I have long been an advocate for watering restrictions, sometimes to the point of being confrontational with neighbours. After years of operating like this, I say “no more.”
I will no longer support the water restrictions. For the past few years, we have watched the water discussion and all tightened our belts. For what? So developers can continue to add thousands of new users to our already inadequate system. It appears that no level of government has any intention of addressing this issue. So, until the system is improved enough to support existing taxpayers, I cannot see my way to save water for all these soon-to-be Coast residents and our developers.
While running out of water one year would be a disaster, it might bring the issue of non-stop development to the table. If that fails, the market may regulate itself once people realize that the promotion of a wonderful coastal life is actually a “spin” and unsustainable.
