As a resident of the Sunshine Coast I would like to voice my displeasure that the Horseshoe Bay to Langdale ferry route is not under non-essential travel restrictions for the May long weekend.
By the number of “sold out” ferry reservations already showing for this period it is obvious we will be subjected to an onslaught of tourists possibly coming from anywhere in the Vancouver Coastal Health and Fraser Health regions since non-essential travel is not legally restricted on our ferry like it is on all ferries from the mainland to Vancouver Island.
Up to now the spread of COVID cases here on the Coast has been very low and I believe this is due to the vast majority of residents responsibly following the rules.
Why those of you with the power to prevent non-essential travel on our ferry have not done so seems to me as totally irresponsible.
There is still time to rectify this issue. Refund reservations that are non-essential and add the same ferry restriction as other major routes.
