Religion at school

Letters

Editor:

My grandchildren attend Cedar Grove Elementary School. In its September 2016 newsletter, grades 5 to 7 students are invited to attend youth nights in the school’s gym sponsored by Christ the King Church. The invitation sets out that other than fun and games the church would provide “light devotionals and snacks.”

The School Act, section 76, page 61 clearly states that the schools in this province must be conducted on a “strictly secular and non-sectarian” basis. The promotion and endorsement by the principal of this school and School District No. 46 steps a very long distance over the line of secularism.
