The following letter was sent to Shell and member of Parliament John Weston and copied to Coast Reporter for publication.
Could you please explain to me how fuel prices are calculated for Gibsons?
Traditionally, our fuel prices have been lower than Vancouver due to the transit tax that is levied in Vancouver. But as I write this letter (July 5) Vancouver fuel is approximately 138.9 and the price of fuel in Gibsons is 136.9. Why? I watch the news every night and watch the price of oil dropping like a stone but our fuel prices have stayed somewhat static. In fact, the price of fuel actually increased in honour of the May long weekend. Go figure!
And how is it that every brand/distributor on the Sunshine Coast is charging exactly the same price?
