Public has a right to be concerned

Cathie Roy (Cathie's comments, June 12 issue) missed the point of the meeting on June 10 regarding a transition house at 545 Pratt Road. A good listener would have realized that the main focus of concern was "location.

Remember VisionQuest was turned away from Sechelt, Davis Bay, and Roberts Creek. I wonder why? Could the reason be "not in my back yard?"

Certainly people spoke with concern and passion - they are concerned for their families, and rightfully so. VisionQuest has come into a family neighbourhood without public consultation because in the regional district they can get away without going to the public, where this is not the case in a municipality. Then they proceed to violate the building code. Yes, the public has a right to be concerned, and keep asking questions.
