With the provincially mandated option for seniors care capacity on the lower Sunshine Coast meeting stiff resistance, we have the opportunity to look at alternatives.
Health care operated within a registered non-profit society is an option where we could embrace senior care. A new and larger facility could be built and operated on a not-for-profit basis. Clearly, the profit factor is right at the root of this problem. Our growing community of seniors needs to be supported and feel part of continuing good care without financial hardship. With wide community and local government acceptance and support, we could obtain a long-lasting, trusting relationship, providing the care we would want for our seniors that meet our standards, not those of a distant and uninclusive authority.
It is never too late to explore new options.
