Re: “The Bridge is Here,” Letters, Jan. 20.
I have to agree with Albert F. Reeve, in his delightful though sad decree on what is happening to this wonderful haven called the Sunshine Coast. I have lived 53 of my 73 years on the Sunshine Coast, starting in Powell River, and moving here 30 years ago to be central to family in both Powell River and the Lower Mainland.
While travelling from Powell River to the Lower Mainland, I had always loved this end of the Sunshine Coast – a quiet, sunny, private little seaside village.
I know we have to have progress, but I have to say that over the past seven years I have become saddened, disappointed, heartbroken and embarrassed at the greed that has overtaken our wonderful piece of paradise. Is this the price we now have to pay to enjoy the simple things in life?
