Editor:
I want to acknowledge the kindness and thoughtfulness of both the United States Postal Service and Canada Post for delivering this Christmas letter from my six-year-old granddaughter in Washington State to me in Roberts Creek.
What made this amazing is that my granddaughter Lucy chose, wrote and addressed the envelope on her own, to Mary (no surname) with the street address and postal code but with NO country named and stickers but NO POSTAGE STAMP!
Bravo to the kind-hearted posties and the cooperation between international postal services. Not even asking for “postage due”!
When her parents, who knew nothing of the activity, asked Lucy where she got Gramma’s address, she said, “Oh, I looked it up on the Internet.”
In a time of closed borders, lonely dying people, sadness and fear, this is a happy story on so many levels.
