Town of Hope to West Point Gray,
Fraser River wends its way.
Valley wide and lush and green,
Abundance by the settlers seen.
Fish and timber, land to grow,
Salmon running, little snow.
Timber fell before the saw,
Fishing, farming, English law.
Commerce, building grew due course,
Rails and roads displaced the horse.
Development with human will,
Abundance of it hard to kill.
Urban things in valley spread,
Rural country not yet dead.
Wider freeway in demand,
Asphalt, concrete o’re the land.
Cities towns are spreading more,
Los Angelizing, valley floor.
