Perplexed by choice

Letters

Editor:

I am wondering why your top story, the front-page article in last week’s paper of Aug. 31, was about Tim Hortons coming to Sechelt. Of all the other stories you had to pick from, I am perplexed why you chose this one.

The Coast is on Stage 4 water restrictions, the local elections are upon us, Coast firefighters are out fighting wildfires in the Interior. Surely, any of these are more newsworthy. In my opinion, this article was about nothing more than a small-town event, and worse than that, I see it as outright, free advertising for Tim Hortons.

There has to be better news than doughnuts coming to town. For an award-winning newspaper, you can do better.
