As co-chairperson of the For a Better Sechelt (FABS) initiative, I would take Christine Wood's challenge (Coast Reporter, March 30) of capping election spending in municipal elections in a heartbeat.
We were overwhelmed with donations after our first two meetings as we tested the water with the idea that a change in Sechelt might be needed. To me the donations were a confirmation of the frustration the voters were experiencing. I agree with Christine that money does not change people's minds. I couldn't begin to count the hours that a large group of volunteers put into the campaign with the table talks and other meetings and just generally getting the message out to other people to be curious, ask questions, be informed and vote.
I think people change people's minds.
