Pay scale disgraceful

Letters

Editor:

I was very shocked to see the headline of your newspaper dated April 14, “Mounties change their stripes as part of nationwide protest.”

What a disgrace to read how our members of the RCMP are being treated as second-class citizens. Our RCMP are known worldwide for their vigilance and courage. What has gone wrong with the thinking of our politicians that these wonderful officers are having to go to newspapers to “plead” their case? The expression on the faces of these good officers certainly told it all.

I’m ashamed to be a citizen of this town where I’ve called for help several times because of home invasions and have received help at once.

The pay scale for these officers, both men and women, is simply disgraceful.

I’m a senior citizen in my late 80s living joyfully with my pets and would gladly pay more taxes or whatever it takes to ensure our Mounties receive a living wage.
