I am writing to express my gratitude for the ambulance service, firemen and police for their quick response on Aug. 23 when my daughter, Brenda Waddell, took very ill while picnicking at Secret Beach.

The co-ordination and professionalism was very, very impressive. Secret Beach is a long way down from the road. She was medicated, her vitals checked, then strapped down on a stretcher in preparation for the long trip up to the road. Luckily, there was a house about half way up the trail, occupied by a very nice family. She was carefully lifted over the high barbed wire fence to the waiting ambulance, who immediately rushed her to the hospital in Sechelt. She was diagnosed with non life-threatening food poisoning, treated accordingly and after a period of observation, she was released.

I would again like to express my heartfelt thanks to all concerned, especially the ambulance personnel who are on strike. You never really know how dedicated this team is until the time comes when you need them. They deserve and are entitled to everything they are asking for.
