MP Pamela Goldsmith-Jones:
In the House of Commons on Tuesday, Oct. 4, you defended the sale of weapons to Saudi Arabia, claiming this regime is a strategic partner in the Middle East. While I disagree with you wholeheartedly on the sale of weapons to any country or group engaged in human rights abuses, I am particularly upset with your stance given recent revelations by Wikileaks concerning emails to the likely new president of the United States, Hilary Clinton.
An emailed memo to Ms. Clinton dated Aug. 17, 2014 states that Saudi Arabia is providing “financial and logistic support to ISIS.” Can you help me understand this? If Canada is indirectly supporting an organization against whom it is also engaged in defeating, how can you justify your position?
