It hasn’t happened yet but if it does it will be a real game changer for the lower Sunshine Coast. The opportunity to have a world-class passive park on “the top of the world” in Gibsons will be lost. I’m talking about Block 7, Gospel Rock, 46.64 acres. This rare, unique, prominent, strategic, historic, easy access property has been locally identified since 1980 as a location to preserve in its raw natural state for all generations. Hundreds of people have worked to secure this land as an open common greenspace, which has been used by the public as a park for over 100 years, although privately owned.
Only a miracle can save Gospel Rock from development. That miracle is the love that the local people have for the incredible natural beauty and ecological power of this sacred place.
Please attend the public hearing on this issue, Wednesday, May 23, 7 p.m. at the Gibsons Legion.
