Regarding Christine Pawley comments about keeping cats indoors (“Keep cats in the house,” June 22):
Not to be harsh, but where did she obtain information that cats “belong indoors?” Some enjoy permanently being outdoors, some enjoy permanently remaining indoors, usually for owners who want to guarantee their safety. And many, many enjoy the privilege of both.
Cats are natural predators and are following their instincts while stalking birds, mice, etc. Of course, cats will kill birds. I have yet to hear anywhere in the world that we are losing birds as a species.
Mother Nature tends to regulate these things all by herself. Nature also, unfortunately, lets coyotes kill cats and small animals. It is all relative.
